Acupuncture is an age-old traditional Chinese medicine healing practice in which thin needles are placed at specific points in the body. Stimulating the immune system and central nervous system can activate the body’s natural healing abilities to promote physical well-being. We offer Edmonton acupuncture services for pain management and sports injuries, particularly lower back pain or shoulder pain.

“Altogether organized and knowledgeable staff. I attend physio with Saravanan and he always fully listens to the issue and how the issue arises and explanation of the muscles/tension/pain. Great place to go for first timers and so easy to book online!”

Acupuncture can be a used in a variety of ways to increase physical and emotional well-being. At RECOVR Physiotherapy we use acupuncture to treat pain especially in the lower back and shoulders.
Acupuncture is generally safe for most people, but there are some conditions that may make it unsuitable. These include bleeding disorders, pacemakers, and pregnancy. It is important to discuss any health concerns with our acupuncturists before beginning treatment.
The number of treatments needed depends on the condition being treated and the individual patient. Some people may see improvement after just one treatment, while others may need multiple treatments over several weeks or months.
The needles used in acupuncture are very thin, and most people only feel a slight pinch or no sensation at all. Some people may experience a dull ache or tingling sensation during the treatment, but it is usually not painful.
